No Longer Longbow challenged!
« on: September 10, 2008, 10:37:00 PM »
Or maybe I should of said, I better learn to like a longbow.

Went to a shoot last weekend and bought some raffle tickets for a David Dowel Longbow and won the dang thing. Its a 66" 50 @28". This is literally the first thing I've ever won. I was totally shocked. I will say the more I shoot it the more I like it. Very smooth and freakishly quiet! Sorry, wish I had some pics but I don't have a clue how to post em'.

Welcome to the world of longbows. I have a couple of recurves but, my 4 longbows are my go too's. Congratulations on your win.

Stay safe and shoot straight.

I had one of David's bows about a year ago.  They are great shooters.  I used to see David 2-3 times a year at Pratt's shoot, but haven't seen him for awhile.  Someone said he is about to start building bows full time.  This same person also said he is building a recurve.  Good luck with your new bow.

BS, that is correct. He is building recurves now and I shot one of them and it is very very smooth. The one I shot was a 60" long and 50 @ 28" and was pretty zippy as well. His craftmanship is very nice.

I just want to add, after shooting this longbow for a few days I have come to absolutely love it. This thing is just extremely quiet and very smooth in the hand. You guys need to check his bows out if you can !!!

Jason,
Glad to see you have one of Davids bows. I'll be hunting with mine this year. Where did you win it at?

Charlie, I"m thinking we've met. I won it at the Kingman shoot last weekend. If your the Charlie I'm thinking of, we have shot together at a couple 3d courses and spoke at McAlester this year and I think you let me shoot your bow.

Ringneck, David is from Arlington.  In between Pratt and Hutch.  I would bet he will be at Pratt's hog and turkey roast shoot.

All the Best with your new Longbow, Jason!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"
