I would put it back in the box that the bowyer sent it to me in and send it to the guy who responded to the add I put in the trad bow classifieds on this web site and take the new 3 piece takedown I purchased for this trip so I wouldn't have to deal with this problem.
Seriously, I have an archer box that takes 2 three piece longbows (or recurves) and 24 arrow that zips into the bottom of a duffle bag. I think and extra bag is $75 to the airlines. Not only that, on a couple of horseback hunts I was able to take that extra bow with no hassles from the outfitter.
