I seem to have way too much trouble getting my glue-ons true to the shafts. I am using hot melt and seem to be forever re-heating and adjusting but still have difficulty in getting things lined up.
How do you guys go about making sure everything spins true?

heat, reheat spin, respin do all over. sometimes I hole the arrow and turn it cribbing the BH and moving to line it up. Then spin it, move it again if needed.

Good point alignment starts with the taper.  I use a disk sander and grooved guide block and adjust it until the shaft taper fits the point perfectly.  The grooved block keeps the taper concentric and straight with the shaft.  Unfortunately, not all point tapers are the same, just close.  Also check to make sure that the head itself is straight and the tip aligned with the ferrule.

Another helpful tool is a shaft spinner.  Once you get it set up, you can use a "target" to get the point aligned very close, then rotate it it until perfect.

Fletcher is right on!! It all starts with the taper. Friction fit your broadheads to the shaft "dry" (no glue yet) and check to make sure the taper is correct... If so I get the hotmelt hot enough to smear it on the taper of the shaft. Then using pliers I get the broadhead hot enough to melt the hotmelt. Holding the broadhead in the pliers I apply enough heat to gently push/twist the shaft on to the broadhead.
