Spine Gurus - lets hear your thoughts..
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:01:00 PM »
Where do I go from here:

original arrow set up:

full length Heritage 250 (32.75"), 100g brass insert, 125 point - can go up to 200g with good results.

footed arrow:

same shaft, add 2.75" aluminum, extending the length of the shaft by .75", and use the aluminum insert (30g) + 10g pdp weight +
point of 175g.

Flight is awful..... tried 200 & 250, getting nowhere.  Any thoughts why or where to go next, or why this is not the same?

Bow:  Shrew, 59# @ 32" (yes, 32" draw - thats why I lengthened the shafts).

but the 100g insert was 1.25"..... so "only" another .75".... could it be that much change?

if so, what guess for point weight?  I could use tapered (glue on) points and steel adapters to crank it up on the point..... or could add more with the PDP system.

Looks like you lightened the end and put two inches of aluminum around the shaft. Correct?

How many days till huntin season? I'd go back to the original arrow setup and start sharpening the broadheads.

I agree with Eric. Unless you have to have the length.

Go to a 350 and keep it at 32.75"s than shoot 50 grain brass insert than 100 grain broadhead adapter with 125 grain BH, for a total weight of 275 up front, I bet dollars to donuts you will be right on. If ya want to shoot the 250s at 32.75"s go with 50 grain brass insert and 125 grain head for 175 up front. Shawn

Truth is, I likely will "go back" for the season.  Problem is that I am short drawing, using mostly shoulder and arm, and can't get the consistency I want.  I pull a field point on the shelf, and am not yet fully expanding my chest.  Arrow length is a critical factor in getting there.

As to the weight, 100 brass + 125 = 225g.

32g insert + 10g PDP weight + footing = 75g +  the 175g point = 250g if my math is good.

I could see where 125 point wouldn't cut it, but this seems screwy.

Get some full length 2413s (34") and tune them up. More time shooting, less time tinkering.

The way I added mine is 50 gr. brass insert and 125 grain BH adapter and 125 grain broadhead gets ya to 275 which I am sure will work. Shawn
