Ordering a new ACS CX

Hey guys, looking for a little help. I'm getting rid of my Widow and ordering a new ACS CX. I've looked at the A & H website and got alot of info there, but was looking for some more from some of you that own them. Also wondering about limb lengths. I lean a little more towards a shorter bow. I read on one of the postings about 58" limbs, do they offer these? If so, why aren't they advertised on the website? Thanks for whatever input you can give me. Any suggestions on weight? I normally shoot between 45 & 50 # @ 26". Thanks again,

James I had two A&H's they are every thing they say they are, I shot both very well. But the riser's aren't for every one I had a 54# @28 64" and a 60# @28 64" I sold both after shooting a Morrison, Bob makes a better low grip riser for me and the speed is about the same. Shoot one first.

I don't know about the 58" limbs, but the 62 and 64 inch are very nice. Like Larry, I prefer my Morrisons for a variety of reasons, but I am not selling my ACS because it is also one of my favorite bows, and I like variety. I do like the grip and feel of the ACS CX. It is almost as nice as the low and medium grips on my Morrisons. If you are only going to have one or the other, I agree with Larry that I would personally pick a Morrison, but there are others who understandably prefer the ACS. I hope you get to shoot both before you decide. And don't forget that there are other bows out there you might like better than either of those two even though they are at the top of any good list.

For me, I would go with the longer limbs, as they might be a bit smoother.  I believe there is the option for a larger riser now, and I would take a hard look at it if your hands are fairly large.  I really liked the speed and quietness of the ACS I had, but the grip did not work for me (too small), and it was a little stiff drawing for me with the 62" limbs.  A lot of preload, which is fine, but I like a bit smoother build up.   As with Larry and Allan, I, too, prefer Morrison bows, LOL!

I love my ACS's..  The smaller grip is perfect for me and I have medium sized hands..  I have found that the 64 and 66 in. limbs draw and shoot much better for me than the shorter limbs..  I believe O.L. favored the longer limbs on the CX, he must be right because I can sure shoot the longer better...  James, did you look at the in stock risers and limbs on A@H's web page,  they have several risers and limbs in stock that may suit your needs..  The in stock click on is on the right side of their web page about half way down....  Jim

James, clarify one thing Larry,John and OL are friends of mine. (As I wouldn't want to miss lead you)

But my personal feelings and likes are, the newer riser fit's\\shoots better than the original FOR ME. Not necessarily  the same for you. The bows are at the end of the spectrum for speed and being smooth shooting. Only you will be able to determine if its the bow for you. My only advice is order one, you will be surprised I truly believe. Regardless of my friends, although I think the world of them.

I just aquired a Morrison Cheyenne last week and love it. It is a fine shooting bow. I'm like Allan, I like a variety of bows. I've tried alot of different bows and seem to shoot one with a medium or larger grip well.

I prefer the 16" riser from A&H compared to the 14" personally.

The shorter limbs are available just not on the website yet. Be sure to speak with them and make your draw length known so they can set you up with the length that will work best for you. The longer limbs are better performers, not by enough to make a difference to most shooters but they are a little faster.

I just wrote up a post on my ACS CX.  I'm real pleased with mine. A good friend of mine says,"All bows are just bows. There aren't any really bad ones."  He's right. But this one is just enjoyable to shoot....

I had 2 ACS bows, a 64" 54@28 and a 62", 58@28.  Both shot the same speed with the same arrow and draw.  I have heard that the longer limbs are a bit better performers.  I sold them to get a Shawnee, and after several problems with broken riser and limbs, I have bought another ACS.  The performance of the two bows is so close that I couldn't recommend one or the other in that department. I was getting 200 fps with 9gpp and fingers at my 29+ draw.   I like the ACS riser and it was less critical of spine.  As others have said, try to shoot both to see which works better for you.

I've got the 62" limbs and they perform excellent, as mentioned the grip is small. I might end up ordering the 16" riser.

At your draw length, the 58 inch would work fine.  i'm with David though...i would try out the 16 inch riser if possible before making your decision.  It is a fast, flat shooting bow...
