what poundage bow would be good for a 2016 gamegetter cut to 29in with standard insert and 125gr point? the bow would be drawn to 29in, would it work for a 50@28 grizzly?

depending on the bow. I think those arrows are to weak for the bow You listed, but I could be wrong. I think they are more suited for bows in the 35-45# range.

I shoot 2016s out of my bows in the 48-53# range and I draw 29 inches also.  You may have to play with the point weight, but I usually end up with 145s.  Total arrow weight is around 520 give or take a bit.

You'll be real close. A 1916 might do better for you with 125.

MY DRAW IS A BIT SHORTER BUT GET GREAT FLIGHT WITH 2016s ON BOWS FROM 50-55#. LIKE DAVE, I HAVE FOUND 145s TO BALANCE BEST FOR ME.

A good friend of mine shoots the exact same arrow out of a 50# Tomahawk. They fly perfect. I agree that 1916s might do well also.
If it's in your way, move it.

I used to shoot Gamegetter 2016's out of my c-c-c-c--wheeled thingy set at 67# using 145gr Muzzy heads.  Can't remember what the length was.  They were the only shafts I could get to fly great out of that bow.

My 47# long bow will shoot 2016 with 145gr up front of a 29.5" arrow.

I would bet it will work just fine, but as they say every bow and every person are different. I'm betting you'll be ok, though. CKruse

Ok - my turn. I don't intend to distract from OP question, but I have a very similar question and have therefore avoided making a new topic.

My draw is 31" and I shoot a 32" arrow out of a 40@28 Ben Pearson Javelina. I figure I am drawing ~45-50 lbs.

Should I step up to a 145gr head, or go with 125? These arrows have a GPI of 10.6

Ian, if the arrows aren't already cut, I'd cut them a little longer than 29" if you are drawing a full 29". Keeps the broadhead from bumping the shelf.
You would be pulling about 53# with the Grizzly.

2016s with 145gr. bear broadheads shoot great from my 54# Browning Safari I, so I bet they will fly great from your set up.

2016 cut to 29in with 125 grain broadhead will work perfect from your 50 lbs bow especially if the bow is more center cut .

thanks guys, chuck I like the broadhead hitting the riser, sort of like a reminder that I'm at full draw, saw an article on it in TBM
