Plate & arrow rest???

I need to replace the plate and the arrow rest on my Vision and was wondering what folks have had the most success with? It looks like calf w/ hair on and seal skin are about the best way to go , but which one? Is the added price of the seal skin worth the difference?

The best I have found so far is the beaver tail leather that came with the cari-bow perigrine. It is still not showing any sign of wear after 6 months of shooting.
I will be switching all my bows to this .

I've found that velcro works as well as the more expensive natural materials.  I use the industrial grade velcro.  The adhesive is extra strong and the soft side of the velcro lasts a long time.  You can get it at the local Wal-mart - a one time purchase will last you a lifetime.  It's only about $5 if I remember correctly.

I used the velcro but had to replace it too often becasue of the grove that was worn it it.  I put on a piece of self-adhesive bear hair two weeks ago and I can't tell it has worn at all!  3Rivers or Kustom King has the bear hair and a leather strike plate for less than $5 bucks.  The piece of hair they send is big enough for two applications and I doubt the strike plate will wear out.

Here is what I have been using for quite some time.  These are actually "heavy duty felt pads" that are meant to stick to the bottom of your chair legs so they don't scratch your floor.  They come in many sizes, colors and thicknesses.  They wear like iron and are as quiet as can be.

 
 
 

This one just happens to be on my Hoyt Gamemaster.  I used the full thickness (1/4") for the strike plate as this bow is cut past center.  for the shelf, I simply used a razor blade to trim the thickness to 1/8".  

I have found that the small size is very nice if you are looking for minimal arrow contact.

One of the best parts is that one package of 16 pads costs about 2 bucks at Walmart. Where I went to school, that's less than 13 cents a piece.

Neet idea Gerep.

Most of my bows have leather rests and strikeplates; a few have seal skin.  Leather looks nicer IMO, but it's hard to beat the sealskin, though it is expensive.
