« on: October 03, 2008, 07:28:00 AM »
Did any of you read the article in the Mobile Press (Oct 2nd) about the over-population of hogs in the Mobile Tensaw-Delta area ? Well I live in the area and would love to go , just hoping to talk to somone who has hunted that area...? I have a boat to access the areas, seats four, if anyones interested.

Shane,

I live in Vancleave MS, and would be interested if the license cost wasn't too high. I live just a few miles from the Lower Pascagoula Management area and i know it has hogs just never have hunted them, but would like to try.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

Sounds great! You should have some takers for that offer; must be some other Alabamans around. Get amongst 'em, and good luck!

I live in Mobile and plan on doing some hunts walking in to some of the 'fringe' areas of the Upper Delta.  I've had some success there before.  If you want to get together just shoot me a PM.

Champ38,that is a great invitation to open up. I would, but live out of B'ham. I quess I'll be spending my free time in Perry County looking for the deer through Jan 09. Why don't you throw that up again in the spring?

If you float the pipeline with a trolling motor or something quiet pushing the boat you can hear them as they fight with each other when they are feeding.  We would get a group and one boat would go ahead and be standers while the rest tried to slip up on them and push them toward the standers.  It seemed to work for us.  Watch out for no shoulders and gators though.

I'm over in South Baldwin.  My old parterner and I hunted the Delta a good bit in years past.  Caution, don't go by yourself.  Too much area and water to be alone.
My cousin has taken a bunch of hogs in the south part.
Mostly hunt above the Interstate.  Go in from the northern part.
Get some good topos, and a GPS!
PM me sometime.  I normally start hunting the Delta in Dec., not quite so may crawly things to wory about, tho have seen gators and snakes then too.
