Yesterday morning i decided to try out a new hunting spot on public land that I had scouted out this summer. It was a disaster getting in---after the huge wind storm that ripped through Ohio wiht left-over winds from hurricane IKE, my trail was non existent, but i got in, making a whole lot of noise and about 1/2 hour later. Got set with my climber, was a beautiful fall morning, about 50 deg.----but nothing was moving. However, about 9am, over on the next little ridge, I heard this LOUD, blasting Snort/Grunt, then a great crash into brush, and all h**l broke loose. Something was chasing somebody else through brush and headed my way. I was up with bow ready but when they crossed the beaver dam, the noise and commotion went the other way and all I got was a glimpse of white!
:(
This weekend, I'm gonna hunt that other ridge---its a narrow little ridge with a mix of oaks and pines and all open on the ground!
