Hoyt GM Tackdriver!!

Just curious if anyone has had a simliar experience. I have owned some of the nicest bows out there IMO (Habu, Palmer, Silvertip, Marriah, Rose Oak, Rivers Edge, and others). None of these bows are as consistently accurate in my hands as my Hoyt Gamemaster. This thing is an absolute tack driver. I can pick it up after not shooting it for months and shoot accurately with it nearly immediately. Anyone else have similiar experiences?

I had one for a while and you are quite right. I just couldn't get used to the noise it made. My buddy Desertdude is shooting one now and he is deadly with it.

I agree with both you guys. I actually had a GM and a GM2 both of which were extremely accurate but even with all the sound dampening devices installed they were too darn noisy!

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Have you tried the Dorado? The tiny pivot areas allow for virtually torque free shooting and that helps immensely. The old Golden Eagle bows and the other Phil Grable designed bows were very similar; tiny pivot areas and good balance.
Most of the noise of metal bows can be tuned out with a little work.

Mine was loud with the stock limbs, but I recently bought a pair of Win CC Carbons used and it is much faster, as well as , now being as quiet as almost all of my wood bows.

Does the GM have limb adjustments on it? Most times noise is tiller related.

George- I have not tried the Dorado, but would like to. How did it compare to the GM2?

I've got a Hoyt Tiburon and its a little quieter than the Gamemaster because of the composite material in the riser spaces. Limb pads, wool silencers and brush buttons brought it down to a whisper.

I had an original GM, which I sold due to the grip. I now have a Reflex Traditions, equivalent to the GM II, and have TradTech carbon/wood limbs on it. It is very quiet, very fast and is a tack driver. I bought it to take on my trip to IL next week. I'm glad I did! I love the grips on these bows, except for the exposed metal at the top of the grip on the original GM.

I had a GMII. Sold it after i shot the Dorado. I like the simple riser much better. It is also a shooter and more deflex than the GM.

I had a GM. It was nice and quiet once I put on Bow Hush/Puppys and cranked up the brace height.

So for others who have shot both, is the Dorado really that different or is it basically the same without the bar on the riser?
