Worth the price of admission
« on: October 26, 2008, 10:14:00 AM »
Well, it was Saturday morning and the coolest morning yet that I had hunted. I had been in my stand since 6:30 and it was getting close to the meeting time for myself and the two other hunters that were with me.

The deer went behind the area of trees where I knew that I would not be able to shoot, but would be able to get ready for the next shot opportunity. He went behind the line of trees and I came to full draw, pointed to what I hoped would be the exit area and waited to release and I waited and I waited. He had stopped in his tracks. I could catch glimpses of him moving his head and body. Now I shoot a 54# Orion longbow and can only hold at full draw for so long and I had to let down to about 1/3 draw as I waited to see what he was going to do.  :archer:   Seconds passed or minutes or hours you know how it feels when you are waiting on an animal to make the right move for your shoot. All I needed was two steps into the open lane and the shot was mine to make or miss we would have to see.  :clapper:

miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where
you are going and why.

Tony,

Now what are you doing sitting at home writing a story when you should be in that stand waiting fro that buck to make another trip.  In fact, he is due just about now.
