Temporary game tags

In my state once you have harvested a deer or turkey the hunter has to attach a temporary game tag to the carcess of the animal. This must be done BEFORE the animal is removed from the field.

 The problem is that paper tags often get torn and fall off or they get wet from body fluids or water ect...

 I believe I have a better idea and am thinking of offering it for sale. I would like your opinon on my temparary tags.

 

 

 

 I was thinking $4.99 for 4 tags. How about some feedback?

In Missouri you use part of the tag but I have lost them on the way out. Get funny looks at the check in station. It may depend on your state wild life agency whether your idea would be legal or not. JMHO.

on the tags I have a place for you to put your name ,address, date, sex M or F , resident or nonresident.

Everything but the date and sex can be prewritten. A pen works well on the tag

I just fill out my paper tag, put it in a zip lock bag and zip tie it to the carcass. I always put my wallet in a zip lock bag also. Keeps things dry in case f rain.

In Indiana, you have to fill the tag out when you take possesion of the kill, but it doesn't have to be attached to the carcass until it is loaded in the vehicle. I did have a tag blow off a deer on the way to the check station a cople of years ago and I like the idea of your tags. Would have saved me alot of grief! Mike

A simple printed on zip tie that has your license number on it would solve all the troubles if states would go to using them. Then you could present your license when you check in and the animal would be tagged with a matching number. Just have a place on your license or a form at check in to fill out with the other info. We used to have metal tags of that type with our licenses but now we get a waterproof paper vinyl/paper tag to fill out and place on the animal. A permanent tag is placed on at the station. So now I do as oldskool does.

 I understand how that could work on a buck, not sure how it would work on a doe or button buck??

If anyone wants to try these tags out let me know and I'll send you a couple, let me know how they worked for you. As I only have a few I'll have to limit how many I can give out

Hi Joe,

In Indiana, you also have to tag in the field if you leave the deer.  I pretty much do it right away.

I have a few plastic ziploc envelopes with twist ties preloaded with the tags from the hunter guide.  The envelopes are used for inventory tags.  I have also used a tyvek version and just written on it with a sharpie.

I think it is a decent idea.  Some folks will buy it but I doubt you'll make a million
