longbow arrow shelf questions
« on: November 01, 2008, 09:47:00 PM »
I have a 55# martin "the stick" longbow.  Its a thin, light 62" thing that looks great but the arrow keeps coming off the shelf as i draw it.  Its not a problem most of the time it just happens once in a while.  Anybody know a remedy for this.  Im thinking its just finger torque moving the arrow around on the draw.  Also whats a good rest material for a super small shelf on a longbow?

Finger torque would be my guess. The fuzzy side of industrial velcro works well for an arrow rest.

Yeah, fingertorque. I do the same thing sometimes. I find that if I keep my finger on the shaft as I begin my draw, it doesn't happen. I like thin leather or calfhair on my longbows.

Those sticks do have a pretty narrow shelf, but there are bows that have no shelf at all. You'll get used to it.

i was lookin at maybe gettin a pse sequoia.. i like the grip better than the straight grip on the stick.  its also longer and has a more cut-to-center shelf. I know its been asked a million times on here, but how good are they? Anybody have an opinion on em?
