I am sure that the cost of materials had something to do with it from the manufacturer. According to 3Rivers, their cost went up, therefore their retail had to go up accordingly. They don't set their prices arbitrarily. If you really want a straight answer I would suggest calling Rothar. I know I called Rothar about the Professional tester a couple of years ago and he gave me an insane price if I wanted one. He said the cost of parts went up on just the few that he ordered per year and that is what he would have to sell one for it I only wanted ONE. I passed.
But again, if you want the real answer call the source. I am sure there is a reason that they raised their price. dino
