Fletching question...
« on: November 19, 2008, 04:25:00 AM »
Does having a right helical fletching need right wing feathers or vice versa or doesn't it matter?

I'm an aeronautical engineer by trade and i've got to thinking in my head that the way a feather lays from right or left wing would suit right or left helical fletching better, that one would add drag to the rotation and one would work with the rotation to improve it.

Or am i thinking too much about it?

Yep, with RW feathers you need to use a RW clamp and vice versa.

Yep, you got it..Don't lose sight of your background, physics is physics and principles that apply in other disciplines apply flinging arrows as well. If something just doesn't sound right, it's probably not no matter who says it is!  :) ....O.L.
