Internal Footing Carbons
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:10:00 AM »
Hey Gang,
I've read some good things about internally footing carbon arrows, but can't seem to find anything on how to do it/what to foot them with.  Any help in this department would be much appreciated.  Cheers, Matt

I'm not sure what you mean by internally footing carbon arrows.I have footed some carbons exterenally on the outside with a piece of an aluminum shaft.I have only footed axis/mfx my self,I'll cut a 1" piece of shaft and chamfer the back end and epoxy the piece on the shaft.Usally with a piece of 2016,2018 and 2020 depending on which shaft I'm footing.I helps strengthen the shaft from cracking or spliting on the end.And it makes 5/16" points fit more flush which come in many more weights.

I think I remember reading that the good Doc was going to write an article on how to do it sometime in the near future.

Supposedly the internal footed shaft is stronger than the externally footed ones.  I'm curious how this is done, especially on small diameter shafting like Axis and MFX.

There was a thread awhile back about this same subject. O.L. Adcock mentioned how he did his. I can not seem to find it however. Maybe some one else Knows? This sounds like a "how to" subect?
