Bear Paw "Horsebow Express"

I'm investing in a new bow soon.  I've been shooting a 48" osage selfbow made by Chris Lewis for awhile now, and am looking for something with a fair big more arrow speed.  I know something like a Shrew or Widow would really be ideal as far as speed/overall performance are concerned, but I need something short.

REALLY short.

I've been looking at Bear Paw's "Horesebow Express" and it seems to fit the bill of everything I need.  At least, after I cut off those tassel things...

I just can't find any reviews of its performance, etc. online anywhere, including here.  If anyone has any information regarding its performance, feel, etc. it would be much appreciated.

I bought one for my wife. Nice bow for playing around with no intention to hit something precisely. The distributor comes from Germany and his products have no good reputation over here.

I have one 50# it is a neat short bow as far as speed I have never chronoed it but someone else had a 55# said it was about 167fps.  The bow is very light and very quiet.  No hand shock. As far as accuracy goes well, it depends on the shooter but it is a little more finicky then other short bows because it is so light.

I have one, 55# @ 28.  No great speed and starts stackind at the 24"-25" area.  Draw curve is 2-2-2-2-2-8-12-24.  You will short draw if you don't watch out.  Very unforgiving of poor form.  On the plus side is very light and easy to move around in thick brush or a blind or in a tree stand.  Would be a good pig stalking bow.  Bill

Have you ever looked at Rodney Wright's Stalker?  It's only 46", but won't go past a 28" draw, no stacking, more like a wall.  Great little bow if ya don't have a long draw.

You won't be disappointed with one of Dave Beelers bows,the 56 inch I have is smooth and accurate.

I have one marked 50#@28", but is way heavier than that, and it stacks badly after 28" almost like a drawstop on a wheelie. It´s the &%#@est  bow I have ever shot.
Look elsewhere.

A little shy of two months after initially posting this, I've gone ahead and, against most of your advice, acquired one of them.  It's marked 50# @28" and while it's a little heavier than that, it's a GREAT shooter in my mind.  I haven't shot some of the top-of-the-line bows that people rave about, so my opinion may be skewed by bows of lesser quality, but it draws smoothly back to 28" best as I can tell, and shoots a very flat, quick arrow.  I by no means have the equipment to chrono it and I'm sure it's not as fast relative to the market as it seems, but it does the job for me.  My first group of 6 was a little scattered, but with the second, I was able to tighten things up already out to 20 yards, and have since climbed up into the mid 30's with pleasing results.

Many thanks to JoLo who, despite his obvious misgivings about the one he owned, sold it to me.  It's now easily my favorite.  If you're interested in one, give it a try before you buy one (because I may simply like what the rest of the world hates) but don't think it's terrible just because of a few people's thoughts.

James Parker at Hunt Worthy Bows makes a horse bow that is either all natural materials or with glass...and they are fast. I believe James offers a life time warranty on all of his bows(his life).   Pat
