Thanksgiving doe
«

I killed a yearling doe this evening. I was huntin' on a food plot and she came in behind me. I couldn'nt cant the bow as much as I usually do because the tree I was in was in my way. She spun around as soon as I shot and the arrow hit her in the front of the ham and came out thru the tenderloin. The shot was 25 yards and she went about 40 yards. I was using my 52# Fedora recurve with Magnus 1 broadheads.

my hat is off to all bowhunters who take yearling does. wingnut and I hunt a friends place that is in QM program. by inviation we are to take only does. young ones who have the lowest survial rate naturally are prefered. Maw is older and can make it thru harder times.

I watched a show once where Uncle Ted took two VERY small does in a row, for the reasons stated above. I think it's a very responsible thing to do - use the food resources presented to us instead of dooming the poor little creatures to a slow death this winter by starvation and cold. JMHO.
