Dr. Ashby arrow setup for a light bow
« on: November 28, 2008, 11:28:00 AM »
Just looking for input about Dr. Ashby's arrow weight recommendations. I shoot a #41 @28" ACS longbow and when I shoot a 650 grain arrow my arrow speed goes down to 154 feet/second. Is this too slow? or should I keep with my lighter arrow, 588 grain, that I've been shooting at 164 feet/second?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid-in-sideways, totally worn out, shouting, Holy #@%*, What a ride!

Your choice, but I would go with the heavier set up. Not much trajectory difference at 15-20 yards.

Both arrows are plenty fast, that is an exceptional 41# bow-I would pick the one with the best flight and hopefully it is also the one you have most confidence with.

if you're really concerned about speed and accuracy, check into using fast flite string and switching to carbon arrows.

regardless of your setup...a razor sharp broadhead PROPERLY placed is still a key.
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

Wow, I never would have guessed you would get that speed out of that setup.
