Short-billed Stormy Kromer hat?
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:16:00 AM »
Does anyone know of a source for these?  I think that Ron LaClair, Kustom King, and 3 Rivers used to carry them, but don't see them there any more...

Thanks,

Daryl

kustom king has them do a search(type in hats) when you get on the site and you will find them there.

They are also available from Northwoods Wilderness Outfitters in Michigan:

Kromers rule. Try Kustom King and Northwoods Outfitters.

I was in the Northwoods store eraly this month and they had some.

Randy and Cindy are GREAT folks.

I just ordered one of the short billed (Archer's) Kromers from Kustom King on Wednesday (they said they have quite a few in green and camo). They have very limited colors and sizes, best to call. Northwoods Outfitters also has a very limited supply, none in my size (7 3/8). I called the Stormy Kromer Mercantile (manufacturer), they do not have any, product was discontinued a couple years ago.
…finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant - and not nearly so much fun. (John Voelker)

Thanks very much!  At least I have somewhere to check, now.  Tried the Stormy site, but it looked like they no longer made the short billed version.

Thank you for the information.

I have a Filson cap that is similar to the Kromer:

It has a short bill, is lined with Mackinaw wool, and is quite warm. The one advantage to the Filson is that it can be lowered over an upturned colar and buckled under your chin. The big disadvatage to the Filson is that it's MUCH more expensive than the Kromer.
