internal footing and efoc
« on: November 29, 2008, 03:03:00 PM »
i just re read update 8, im shooting gt 7595 full lenght 175 tip with 210 of brass weights behind, my foc is prety high just a little over 6 inches foc,  but the brass weights take 2.5 inches behind the insert i epoxyd them in even though they fit prety tight, i was thinking that this long brass acts like a short footing, was wondering if this might be the best of both worlds, or should a footing be fastened to the shaft only and not the tip and insert?  the arrows ended a bit heavyer than i would like 820 to be exact im shooting 58lb  im getting low 150s for speed.

I don't know what you mean by 6inches of FOC but you might want to go to the prologue to updates for 2007 to see the formula.

Ashby does mention that the longer inserts are better than the shorter ones for strength at the end of the tip.

I think the footing is fastened to the shaft but 'butts' up against the insert.

if a mamoth wanders by i might just have to see how it tastes, haha, i just wanted some blems from sipsy river and he didnt have 5575s so i figured id try the 7595s and thats what they ended up at.
as far as footing if adhered solid to all of the surounding shaft it should definatly act like a tough footing. oh and i measured the total length of insert and it came to 3 5/16 inches long,
