Mystery Bow Arrived....Photos Please.

Okay, I could find no silkscreen residue, no decal markings...nothing...nada...nill.   It does have a very nice figural buginga riser...solid.   Serial number is 04635,  AMO 60", 49#.   I doesn't appear to be a Ben Pearson, the handle design isn't even close to their styles.  It's newer than 1968 because it has the AMO designation on the riser.  The glass is dark green...very much like the Browning glass used on the early Explorer.  Could it be a prototype Explorer?  The angled tip overlays are white and one piece...kinda like the Browning Fury, which were white but not angled.  The printing is in black ink and on lower riser on the shelf side. It is cut past center also.  I just took it out of the box so I haven't strung or shot it yet.

Are you leaning towards the possibility of an old browning?  I know nothing about older bows...was the rounded off shelf (back edge) common in older bows?
If not I'd take into consideration that browning was very big on the "rounded" grips (Prince Of Wales grip) for their shotguns. The Superposed and A-5 were their flagships back in the day and many of the older ones have P.O.W. grips.

May have been browning trying to work their "calling card" into their bows?

George, could that be an old Shakespear, that looks similar to one my uncle had?

Could be a Herter's. If so, it would be the fifth bow made in April of 1963. Herters often had a round sticker on the upper limb (belly side) that identified the make and model. Those sometimes peeled (or were peeled) off.

In 1977 I bought a bow that was very similiar to this one, same shaped riser and color of glass. It was a Stemmler and all it had as far as logo on it was a gold foil sticker stuck on the upper limb that said "Stemmler". After shooting it about 50 times the sticker started peeling up on its edges and I pulled it off. I just don't remember whether it had the angled limb tips or not. Other than that, it looks to be the same bow. I remember it came with a real neat rest, part of the reason I bought it. It looked like a feather rest but the bristles that stuck up were actually a hard plastic. Reminded me of those little cuticle brushes that you see.

I kind of looks like a Darton my dad used to have, but its been along time since I saw it.

Guys, the Mfgs didn't start putting the AMO on the risers until it became a policy in 1968.  The bow is 1968 or newer.  I didn't think of Stemmler, they did use a slight dogleg in many of their target bows.  I'll have to do some more research 8^).
