If a person wanted to hunt javelina someplace other than the cactus filled areas of Texas, someplace where a man can stalk hunt somewhat open ground, where would you go?
Arizona?
New Mexico?
Any open public land where camping is legal?

I hunted AZ. I hunted by Tucson and up north a ways towards the center of the state. Never failed to get one each season. lots of open ground and the bonus of deer tags-either sex and eeither kind when i hunted there. Prepare for cold-snow, too

Archery javelina runs from January 1st - January 22nd. Arizona has a lot of public land with a lot of javelina, and camping is no problem.

I hunted Arizona last year for javelina and needed to apply for the drawing in October for the January season. I believe some areas are under subscribed so I think there could still be some tags available on a first come first served basis. You should be able to get that information from the Arizona fish and game department.

The draw is over, but the game and fish az gam and fish department have posted the areas where ther are leftover tags. Thre are a lot of leftover tags. Go on the az game and fish department web site and they have a list of the number of tags open for each area. You can mail in your application. I believe now for the out of state tags you also have to purchase an out of state hunting license that is non refundable should you not get drawn. I made a mistake on my last application and just put in again as there were over 300 remaining tags in the unit I hunt. I just sent mine in on Thanksgiving day. Yoe can also call the game and fish department with the number listed on their we site and they are very helpful.
