Bow for a kid
« on: December 13, 2008, 10:22:00 PM »
I really hate asking this, but I feel like I may be doing a kid an injustice if a I dont.

Ok to make a long story short, I am AD military stationed in Wy.  My sister and family came to visit over thanksgiving and I took my nephew shooting (he is 13yr old).  Well my sister and my brother in law are not into archery so this was his first time.  (I dont get to see him very often)  Anyway, he did great at it.  He shot my wife's bow and had a blast.  I guess what I am asking is if anyone has any youth gear they would want to get rid of pretty cheap, sell it to me.  I got three kids of my own and can't really afford to spend several hundred bucks on him for this Christmas.  They live in the country (back home is Louisiana) and my Sister tells me they would support if I were to get him some stuff.  I am looking into JOADs in the area but he would love to have just a nice long/recurve bow of his own.  I really hate asking for help, but I have seen everything that folks here have done in the past.  I would hate to waste the opportunity to get this kid into archery, expecially when he showed so much promise.  Thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to help me out.  Not looking for handouts, I will pay, just looking for some old gear that is collecting dust that a 13 yr old boy may be able to use.
Thanks
Dan

You may want to post this in the classifieds with some specs that would work.

Wish I could help..but alas, im just a poor boy myself.  :)

However, my advice would be to watch for Santa's (Vermontster13) threads about youth bow giveaways.
Sounds like ya have a good candidate there.
