acs bows and noise?

I was hoping for some useful tips from any of you who shoot ACS bows. I own an ACS limb bow that was built by Bob Morrison when he was building them in cooperation with A&H archery. The bow shoots well but I can't figure out the "strange" sound. Can't get it quiet at all. I've played around with brace height enough and that doesn't seem to be the answer. The sound is difficult to explain - - kind of a metallic "clang". Definitely different from other bows I have. I've read many comments about the "quietness" of ACS limbs on this site, but nothing seems to work for me. Any comments or helpful tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Bob made and sold some with "disfunctional" bev- lok (sp) connectors, is it one of those ?

The one I shot, made this summer had barely any sound at all. 3 piece A&H bow.

snakewood3,
No - the bow is a one-piece, 56". Just a very strange noise in comparison to, say, my Morrison Dakota. Brace height adjustments don't help. I have sealskin rug and sideplate on it, so that aspect is pretty soft and quiet. Maybe wood arrows rather than carbon would make a difference.

Try a 4 strand D97 string......see the thread 'Wanna see OL's 4 strand D97' on this page of PowWow and let us know how you make out.

Like Bjorn suggest...perhaps the string. The thin D97 or TS1 strings make alot of difference. What kinda' string are you using? I've got a few of these ACS's by Morrison and they are just dead quite with minimal string silencers. I shoot mostly heavy carbons. If wood arrows make a diff then I would think it's nock point or arrow mass weight...unless it's your carbon arrows themselves making the noise. I've found they all shoot quietest at about 7 5/16" B/H and 5/8"-11/16" N/P.

I have noticed that carbon limbed bows make a different sound than glass. Not really louder just a different pitch.

try shooting with a string with less strands. ( see OL's thread on skinny strings)

The early ACS bows I owned, including one Morrison, made what I would call a "plop" sound. I've heard the same or very similar sound when I've heard acorns drop from the tree and land in water.

56 inches is a very short "longbow." I think the noise might be more related to the bow's short length rather than limb design.
