You know...I started hunting with traditional gear because I break things.  Give me a sight, bow press, cams, stabilizers, quivers, fall away rests and I'll break them all    .  I am not mechanically inclined, but I can tune an arrow okay.  After that, I just get to pick up the bow and shoot (nothing to break, except when I miss).  There is something about picking up the bow and quietly sneaking through the woods that most of us here understand. Sometimes, it is even just shooting in the garage to relax and keep in shooting shape.  I shoot traditional because I can, nothing too fancy.  It is simple, not easy, but simpler and different than the crazy world around us.  So hopefully, I'll keep shooting my bow and not break things too often.      .....Charlie

I love knowing that I put that arrow in the BULLSEYE (sometimes) and not a bunch of modern gadgets designed to make archery too easy. My eyes are the sights my wrist the stabilizer etc.

I like that carbon joke. I am new to these POC I likm I likm alot. They feel good But I dont know much about them. I intend to hunt with them this year. My Dad told me to get used to eatin taters but I feel gtg at 15 yards and I still got another 6 months till season starts. Any advice on wood.

I do prefer wood arrows and shot them most of the time, however I do shoot the oldest wood as stated earlier a lot as well.

Its simpler but defintely not cheaper.  Still love it though, only thing really worth spending money on other than my family.

Thanks guys ,not my funny though, I believe I read that (more/less) in TBM somewhere along the way, I think it fits though...
and the simplicity comes in for me, in that my time is so limited at home; that having my "twigs" come 'ready to assemble'  :rolleyes:  and free of grain run out or bends, makes it time saving for me.
I do so admire the wood artisans, and someday I will try my hand at their version of "Simple"...

I agree home can be busy...so for me(with my propensity to break things)  I like a "simple" stick and string with durable arrows.  I just pick up my bow and relax/focus while I shoot.  It is calming to me, because when I shoot I don't think about anything else.  Some day, like you I believe, I would like to see if I can find that same relaxing calm while building my own bow.  Like I said previously, I'm not mechanically iniclined, so we'll have to see about building my own bow. For the most part though, bare shaft tune your arrows with your particular grain of field point and put feathers on. Then check brace height and you are ready to go. I don't need a bow press or to adjust sight pins.  I don't have to worry about string creep or my peep sight not rotating right.  I don't need or want gizmos and gadgets for my bow even if it is built with modern woods and laminants. So for me, simple, not easy is better.  I think most of us are in that boat.  So in this busy day and age maybe we should all go out to our back yards or garages and relax a bit with our favorite bow.....Charlie

Oh yeah, I hope no one ever says any type of archery is cheap!  Often, it becomes an obsession or addiction and, as we all know, addictions can be pricey....Charlie
