making wooden arrows
« on: December 17, 2008, 07:35:00 PM »
hi guys,
I'm intrested in making my own wooden arrows and have several books, videos, and articles and doing this. I already have most of the tools but i want to make my own arrows out of a board. I would like to cut them into 3/8" squares then run them through a dowel cutter. I was just wondering if anyone did this and if so where do you buy your boards??

Thanks

Adam

I do this for all my arrows. I usually use salvaged lumber or spruce that I cut on my land.

Be sure to follow the grain with your first cut, then set over to make a 3/8 wide next cut.

Adam, I have made good arrows with poplar white pine boards I bought from Home Depot and Lowe's.  Pat
