I have a bear kodiak hunter, 60" 45# at 28". I draw 28" and would like to know what size aluminum arrows i need to begin the tuning phase. I shoot off the shelf and use the fingers. Would like to use 125 gr points and keep the arrows around 29.5". Thanks.

I'm getting good results using Easton Gamegetters in .500 spine(2016) using 125grns up front, cut to 29" BOP. I used 3x5" shield cut feathers, right helical I had laying around. Think they were $49.99 a dozen, came with vanes I stripped off.
I'm shooting these out of an old Bear Bearcat 60", 40# @28" and my Browning Fury I 54", 51# @28". I built the strike plate out on the Browning to adjust for the slightly weak spine though.

2114's work for me, but I would also think the 1916 would work better than 2016. I guess you just have to shoot'em to find out.

Now thats what Icall service. Thanks alot trad gang. Seems one should start with a weak spine (1916) and tune accordingly. Should I start out with full length arrows and cut to tune? Won't settle for anything less than bottlecaps at 20yds. Wishful thinking, but hey, practice practice practice. When that critter steps into the zone, I must be confident of not only my equipment, but of myself as well. Thanks guys.

I am shooting 1916 @ 29.5" out of my 58" hunter. 125 gr heads shoot on the spot with the 45# bow. I am using 4 fletch 4" feathers and am shooting three under. I love those hunters. Oh, it's 67 deg.at 9pm in Lufkin Texas.

I think the 1916 would be better too. I shoot my 48# Kadiak with shafts cut to 28" and then add the points and nocks. I draw 27" oh yea, 125 gr points, 3 fletch @5" feathers
