My "stealth shafts"
« on: December 25, 2008, 06:56:00 PM »
Had these fir shafts laying around so made some "stealth" shafts. Looks like I better hit what I'm going for or they'll be "disappeared" shafts. Sometimes simple is nice.
Found the fossil bone in the same area where I found the artifacts and tools in the earlier threads.
Hope all had a good Christmas day and I know everyone is shooting their new bow that Santa brought. I am, but I found out that I had to be Santa to get it.

Very cool, what did you stain them with?

Black "Aniline" dye. Then used 2 coats of "Wipe on Poly" That is one reason that I stayed simple was I was trying the wipe on poly. It's OK, not as shiny as dipping. But that is good if one doesn't want shiny arrows. 3rd coat might be more shine. May try tomorrow.
