Finally nailed one...
« on: December 26, 2008, 12:41:00 PM »
Well, my season is over and this has been my best one ever.  I have been skunked the past two years but i finally broke through this year.  The light was fading as I prepared to shoot and then...I center punched a pine cone at 12 yards from 23 feet up a tree! Man it feels good to shoot where I'm actually aiming at now.  And I owe it all to the advice freely given here on tradgang.  Thank you all, Merry Christmas (a day late) and Happy New Year.

Excellent.  I see you have kids, so having a little extra pine cone in the freezer is a bonus.

Happy Holidays.

great job.....  they are elusive, but man is it gratifying when you get one.  Where do you aim on one of those ?   oh,  and......did you have the proper license and tag ?  You know how we get here on this site..... gotta do it right.

Merry Christmas

Hey Allan

Thanks for bringing back the memories. I was exactly in your shoes on 12/31/2004 with the same feelings!!

A buddy and I were hunting on my birthday, and though we didn't connect on any deer, the day was grand, and ended with a harvested stick. Drilled it at dusky dark before I got out of the stand.

I was so tickled I took photos.

Thanks for the refreshed memories.

God Bless and Happy New Year, David B.

Sorry guys, no pics. I guess if I ever actually shoot anything edible I'll want a camera huh?  Curtis, yes I am still shooting the K-mag, absolutely love it.  How's the Baraga?  Glad I could bring back some memories and a little holiday cheer, by the way, in SC there are no special licenses for non-game species so I'm good on that point. Hahaha. This one had all ready dropped it's nuts so it was a bit tough.  I think he may qualify for pope and young, but I don't know where to find an official scorer.   :bigsmyl:
