Does anybody set a goal for the year on how many deer that they want to take. What was your goal and did you meet the goal?

This is my first year hunting with trad gear.  My goal was 1 deer and so far I have taken 2 deer.  I still have 2 months left for bow season and 2 tags left.

My goal was to get out in the woods.  Mission accomplished.  No deer but plenty of memories.

In 25 years of deer hunting with a bow I've killed 5 deer.  One of the 5 has been with a stickbow which I've been hunting with for 8 years.  I haven't killed anything this season, yet, and I have two days left in our season.  My goal each season is to get out into the woods and enjoy the beauty of God's creation.  Every year I can say mission accomplished!

My goal for 2009 is the same as 2008. To have a good hunt, spend time with good friends, and put icing on the cake by taking a deer. The most important thing is do this without taking away from my family. There wasn’t any icing as of yet this year but it’s been a good hunt and the family and I have some great times together. The good lord has been good to us this year.

My goal for each year is to make good memories both with my  friends and wife while hunting together, and to be gratful for each harvest that is offered while hunting. For 2008, we have met that goal, me, my wife and my hunting friends. I trad bow hunt just like I did with a compound, not that much different, just get a liiitttle closer, and make sure the biggest variable, myself, is up to the task. In the last 4 years transitioning into trad. only archery/hunting I have taken 12 deer and my first archery turkey. Most of these were taken in the same blinds/stands and distances as when hunting with modern equipment, under 25 yds. I have been lucky to some degree, but when bowhunting i work it like a second job, and get rewarded accordingly.
