My 4-year-old, Natalie, has been saying she sure hopes she will be big enough to go to the 3D shoots with Daddy next year. She has also made it clear that she will need a pink bow. So guess what Santa brought her...
It's a Fred Bear First Shot kit. Ol' Santy had to spray paint it pink, and he even put Natalie's name on it for her.
Today was our fourth day to shoot together, and Mom and Grandma came out to watch and we even let Mom take some pictures. We only got to shoot a couple dozen arrows before the wind made us too cold and we had to go inside, but Natalie hit the target with about half of her shots! The PeeWee class where we shoot has a 10 yard max, so we practice from 5-10 yards. I'm not preaching much about form right now, just bow safety. My main concern is to get her flinging arrows and having fun.
Maybe next time we can get Mom to take some pictures of our arrows in the target. I have two block targets and a turkey. Her arrows stick better in the blocks, but the turkey is Natalie's favorite. If she keeps this up the boys better look out come spring at the bow range!
