cost of different hunts
« on: January 03, 2009, 09:49:00 PM »
What I am wanting to know is the cost of a semi-guided hunt for different animals like black bear, hogs, elk moose ect..

What outfitter did you go with and would you go again, what you learned and most important of all is what was the cost of the hunt?

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do this year. I'm getting tired of chasing white tails, having my hunting area screwed up by tresspassers, hikers ect... so I'm thinking of a semi-guided hunt not sure of the animal yet that would depend on the cost

Joe, I have the latest catalogs from Bowhunting Safari and Cabela's in the jeep. Remind me at the next shoot, and you can have them.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

I kinda poked around at this a few times and I think it depends on the state you hunt in.  If you check each states DNR website they will list the price of the non-resident tags and some states can have extreme price differences for the same animals.  Not sure if this affects the price when hunting with a guide though.

the way I see it is, semi guided is where the guide points out the  general area where the animals are. Guided is when the guide points out the animal and says shoot

ah basicly just a knowledgable transport. we have some self guided which they provide everything but a guide, flight, and a camp in a selected area, the pilot is basicly the guide.
I know of one moose hunt that costs about 2500 nothing included just a flight to a good area.

Pretty much rules out hunts in Canada where you're forced to hire a guide.
