If it was smoothest and shot the best, you just busted the myth. Hybrids are closer to recurves in terms of performance (some outperform recurves). As you can see from my signature, I prefer longbows. They are quieter and I think they are more forgiving than recurves. My Kanatis flat smoke an arrow. I would put them up against any recurve of the same draw weight.
Jason Kendall (jkbows.com) is working on a three piece that should be the cat's meow if you are willing to wait for a custom. His one piece bows give the best bang for the buck I have found. I keep trying other bows, but haven't found one that comes close to a Kanati yet. It's also cool that Jason is from Forest City, IA. He's just 25 miles from me...maybe that's not a good thing :rolleyes: .
The bottom line is, shoot what you like. The performance is not that much of an issue. Longbows are quieter and quiet kills.
