Easy ??: My foc and gpp. . . is it good?
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:28:00 PM »
The detailed stuff is not my strongpoint.  But I did find the calculator on the "How -to" forum. Great tool by the way. . .

Okay- so I am shooting a 55# BW SA3.  31" draw. The calculator shows me shooting 10.02 GPP and 20.73 FOC.

Is that adequate with some of the newer discussions about f.o.c. etc.??

Thanks

Sounds good although a littler heavier would be a little better.  You may could add about 50 or so grains to the broadhea getting even better FOC and obviously more total weight, IF IT CONTINUES TO FLY RIGHT.

You're fine. If it flies well for you, there isn't anything you can't put that arrow through in North America.

I can bare shaft it at 30 yds. with no deviation.

If I go up in head wt. I fear I will have to move up in shaft size from the current 55/75s to the 75/95. . . I am pushing the limit of the spine as it is.

I think youd be surprised about the spine issue.

Dave- ???  what do you mean??  currently, if I allow the shaft to be just .5 inches longer, the spine becomes too weak.  So- if I add anymore wt. to the point I think I will lose on the spine??  Thoughts???

in my tinkerings(limited)  the carbons come out of paradox so quick, you can get away with alot. I must confess my carbons are cut shorter. I have a hard time gettin enough flex out 55/75's for a 56 lb bow. Mine are 29"

Thanks for the idea Dave.  As stated:  in my shooting style and bare shafting (using O.L. Adcocks suggested methodology) I have got the shafts down to the .25" increments.  I also am able to use the same shafts for my Firefly longbow.

I think I have pressed these GT 5575 to the limit for my situation.

With a new year, and your thoughts, I will probably experiment again though.  At this point, this sure seems to be a great set-up.

Bow as stated:  arrows:  31.75" 5575 GT trads. 230 gr. on the front end.
