Howatt The Stick ???

Does anyone have any info about, or ever shot, a Howatt "The Stick" longbow? I checked Martin Archery website, but need more info. Thanks - ronp

It's not a bad little longbow.  If you've got over a 28" draw, I'd recommend something a bit longer though.  Over 28", it starts to pull hard.

people tend to either love it or hate it. I love it fine.

Many people like the way it looks, and buy it because it's cheap. I don't think they understand physics very well based on things people say from time to time.

It's a straight grip, pretty much straight limbed longbow. With a very narrow handle and is feather light. It's also only 62 in. If you understand a little about bows you'll know it's going to stack or finger pinch past 28, it's going to kick more than other bows because of the tiny riser, etc.

Some people buy it and seem to be amazed it shoots like a 62in straight limbed longbow and not a 62in recurve with a 2 lb riser.

Just know what you're getting. I like mine fine. I was looking for a short straight limbed longbow and it fit the bill perfect. I added a piece of wooly mammoth ivory for the arrow rest and it looks really nice.

(PS) If you buy one I would buy it in person. The worksmanship is fine but the riser varies. Ovangkol can be really pretty, or pretty dinky looking. depending on the block.

I had one briefly a few years ago. Fun little bow, but the handle was too small for me to get a good grip on, so I sold it. I have a short draw, so I had no problems with stack, etc.

I had one a few years ago.  I thought the handle was a little small.  Had some hand shock and didnt seem to have much spunk.  The one I had did not have any backset in the limbs.  When it was unstrung, the bow was completely flat, no curve in the limbs.  I always thought that was why it seemed slow to me.  Just my opinion.

That is true. The only bow design slower than a straight limbed bow is a string follow bow. But that is to be expected.

I forgot to add that the above trait, also means it is one of the quietest bows on the market. It's why I keep mine. Eerily silent. People always mention about the stick that the feathers on your arrow make more noise than the bow going off.
