Help me pick a Shrew!
« on: January 06, 2009, 08:19:00 PM »
I recently purchase a one piece used Griffin that is 60".  I shoot this bow better than any  other bow I have tried or owned.  I want to purchase a 2 piece Shrew so it is easier to travel with. My draw length is 27.5 inches.  If you were to have just one takedown for travel and various hunting situations, what would it be.  If money were not the object I would buy either a 52" or 54" classic hunter and a super shrew in either 58" or 60".  Since I am only going to buy one bow for now.  What bow and length do you think I should go with.  For you guys who have a lot of experience with shooting Shrew bows, I would really appreciate your feedback.  Thanks!

I have several shrews right now and have sold/traded a few also. If I order another I will get a 56" Super Shrew Chameleon. I draw 27" and the 56 inch length has a touch more mass weight than the 54" I have and alittle smoother draw. The Chameleon is just great for hunting.

I love my 58" Samurai.  But that being said if I could only have one of my Shrew longbows for all around hunting it would be my 54" Classic Hunter.  The 54" C.H. is one of the smoothest longbows I have ever shot long or short.

Personally I like my 54" Lil Favorite recurve best but that was not what you asked!!   :bigsmyl:

say SAMURAI,  i belive the riser wood, kingwood, alows for the bow bolt, and the boo looks as good as it shoots.  the lenght would be up to you mine is 58 but i draw 29 so a shorter one would be great for you.

Personally I really like the looks of that Chameleon, but I don't really think you could get a bad one in the bunch if you tried!

I have a 58" TD from Ron...a Samurai....and I have the same draw as you.....I think that would fit the bill.

Mark,

Perhaps the 54" Classic Hunter would be really nice, but it's a hard pick I know.

I have a 56" - 58# @ 28" two piece and when it's strung it's 54" long......niceeeeee

What ever you get you will love it...I love mine. I would get the takedown though everytime. Much easier to take with you. I travel alot on my bike and the takedown is perrrfect. No tools needed either I love that. I have forgotten my allen wrenches a few times with my other takedowns and that can be a pain in the a$$
