Thanks to Curtis and his friends I had the opportunity to shoot a few longbows today. He contacted me over my post asking if there was anyone in my area who could let me try out a longbow since I'd never fired one before and I was worried about the different riser on it. First time I'd pulled a bow in about 28 years except for about three shots with a compound at an archery store. I don't consider those as shooting a bow though, more like firing a gun-pull the trigger on the mechanical release while trying to decipher where to point the thing because of being distracted by the pin sight. Proud to report I found I'm still able to hit the target. In fact shooting Curtis' Griffen from about 10-12 yds (lemmee brag a little) my FIRST shot was dead center of the bulls-eye!
Got witnesses!
While I was fairly consistent after that I know I need more practice to get back to where I used to be. But I know that, once I get it, I'll be comfortable with my longbow's grip.
So thank you to Curtis, Travis, Jeff, Marty, Lee, and Vic (hope I remembered your names right)for a great afternoon. Once again you've all shown what a great group of people there are in Tradgang.
