Heritage 90's.. Need brass inserts??
« on: January 13, 2009, 06:28:00 PM »
I cannot find any brass weight inserts for these shafts.  Anyone point me to the right place?

Sipsey was sold as of today.. BigJim the new owner is not sure he can supply inserts that will fit the 90's.

Yes Sipsey River had the 100 gr. inserts turned down to fit, then they were around 85-88 grs..What I did on mine,I mounted a field point in my drill and spun on the 50 gr. brass inserts. And then spun them and filed them down to fit, they came out to 42 grs. and with 175 gr. point gave me a 540 gr. arrow. The 50 gr. inserts are not near as long as 100 gr.inserts so it wasn't the hard to get them filed down to fit.I had already made my own before John had them available or I would have bought those. But it only took me a couple of hours to make them.

JRY is correct. The difference in diameter is small.
I was having to take the standard brass insert to a milling machine and do it myself. I am not sure if the new owner will be able to get that done for you. Maybe after he gets his feet on the ground he will find a source for them.

I turned some down on a metal lathe, by filing and sanding.  I could not get an exact match on the wts.  So I decided not to do anymore.
