handsome double shelf
« on: March 10, 2007, 07:55:00 PM »
this is a Horne Combo Hunter longbow.  Mark did a beautiful job on the bow.  66" 50#@28"

and there is a surprise.  Mark put a double shelf of the bow for me.  Lefty I am a flat out aimer.  Three under, high anchor,  and gapping on the point.  Right I shot the bow split vision.

Like all my Horne bows, when the bow is tuned with the arrow, the bows pit the arrows right where ya want them.

There are several reason for a righty to shot lefty.  ONe of the reason was given to me by the othropedic surgeon for the Dallas Cowboys.  Ya need to keep the back muscles in balance.  Well that and there are some tree stand situations that are better handled from one side than the other.

Rusty - pretty bow.  Are your draw lengths exactly the same rh to lh?

Looks like you like a fat brace...over 8"?

Ken I don't think I draw exactly the same but close enough that the same arrow tune well out of both sides.  Since I aim as a lefty (even to closeing my right eye - right eye dominate) an inherent instinctive gap is not important on the left side.  So I tune the arrow to shoot where I look on the right side and figure out the gap on the left.  this double shelf gaps lefty point 10" under point of impact at 20 yds right now.  that is good to go

Howdy, Rusty.  That's a beaut.

A double-shelf '57 Kodiak is the only glass bow I've shot that doesn't shoot down and right for me.

Center-shot just doesn't work with my selfbow calibrated hole-burning style.
