Reducing Weight on Kid's Take-Down

Hi guys and gals.

I bought my daughter a take-down recurve from 3 Rivers.  It's 25# and I suppose I should have ordered a 20.  She can shoot it, but it's a struggle and she never reaches full draw.  Her form suffers because of that.  It's a glass laminated take-down, not particularly expensive, but I know it can shoot very well as I kind of have fun with it between quivers while she is resting.

What's the best way to reduce the weight?  I don't really want to buy new limbs for it unless that would be the best overall solution.

If you just got it, call 3R and ask them to swap the limbs...

Looked for replaceable limbs but haven't had any luck.  Anyone have any tips?

Dan you might be able to put shims under the bolt end of the limb which will change the limb angle and lessen the draw weight. Might get it down enough. You could give it a try and see if it works.

Good idea.  I'll give it a try.  With all the bow builders here, I thought I'd get a few more responses.  I'm really surprised.  Thanks for your suggestion.

Call 3 Rivers and ask them...scraping the sides of the limbs is the easiest way to reduce draw, but they would be the best to ask.  It usually doesn't take much, but limb width, design, etc...play a part...if they sell it, they may have one there as a reference or may just know.

They do build bows and are always super helpful.

I may have a PSE Buckeye junior-a 20# takedown that is no longer being used by my kids. The limbs may be interchangable, or you can have the bow in return for a nominal trade of some sort. PM me if you like the idea.
