Steve Gardner BBO Pics
« on: January 27, 2009, 09:11:00 PM »
I made an offer to trade some nice hickory staves for an unfinished bamboo backed osage ref/deflex bow. I wanted to finish it my way. Steve Gardner who is a member on the other trad site offered to make it for me. Well, I received it about a week ago. I had to finish sand it, mould the handle and put a finish on it. The bow was sweet when I got it, but it needed some finishing. Here is the end result. It is 68" long and 55#@28. It has antler tip overlays and antler and leather rest. Love this bow. It's just what I was looking for. Thanks Steve. He goes by "bager' on that other trad site. Thought you might like to see his work.
I did a camo effect on the back that I kinda stole from James Parker and used a new product from Rustoleum that is a fast drying matte finish. It's a great product.

Still not sure about the beads. What do you guys think?

I'm at a very wierd place Jamie. After I placed my order for the JDBerry Taipan, I was satisfied.
I look in the classifides more than once a day and don't really see anything that I want or want to spend $800 or $900 on for a used bow. I do have a replica Mohawk indian bow being made in trade for some staves that will be a hunting bow. It will be longer and be a heavier draw weight than an authentic Mohawk bow. I'm bringing them all. It's really not that many.   :saywhat:

Nice finish job Brian. They don't get any better (or faster)than a badger bow!
