Badger TD recurve is a keeper...now
« on: January 28, 2009, 12:57:00 AM »
I recently traded with another tradganger (Elkherder) for this Badger TD recurve by John Holzrichter. It is a shooter for sure, but it was loud with the original string and there was kind of a ring to the limbs. I stuck a set of limbsavers on and took care of the ring. The string was still too loud to suit me, so I twisted up a skinny D97 (6 strands), added Bow Hush, and a set of cat whiskers. I set the brace height at 7 5/8". The result...silence! This is now the quietest recurve I have shot. I mean it is longbow quiet.

This is with the 60" bamboo 49 @ 28" limbs. I haven't fiddled with the 58" limbs much yet, but they are probably going to need the same treatment.

Here it is with the additions.

The only downside is the thing is heavy! I know, I am spoiled with my little longbows. It certainly doesn't hurt the way it shoots. Full length Easton Epic ST 400's with 265 grains up front shoot like darts. Those bamboo limbs are quick!

I think I may just hang onto this one!
