It's official. The Navy will be moving my wife and I into the Balston Spa area in the middle of March. We have to find a house to rent, preferably one in the country. I also need to find a new job. If anyone knows of a company that needs a diesel mechanic or a house to rent please let me know.
I'm also looking forward to meeting some fellow TradBow Hunters. In the 3 1/2 years I've been shooting my recurve I have not ONCE shot with another Trad guy. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting some outside opinions on my form from people who know what Trad shooting is all about. See you guys soon... hopefully!  :archer:

There's a good number of Trad Gang in the area for all kinds of shooting and hunting things to do. You can google Mohawk-Hudson Traditional Archers and check out the web site. Hope to see you!!! ron w

Yeah what they said. I plan on becoming a member the next time I can make it to one of their shoots.
A country setting shouldnt be a problem up there. I can think of atleast a handful of guys on here that will be your neighbors, and even more of us South a bit by or below Albany.
Maybe you should take a trip up to scout the area....you know....right around the weekend of the JLMBH.  :D

Welcome to NY..... Hope you like paying taxes.  :banghead:

Here's another MHTA member in good standing..... well in standing anyway.   Be sure to look us up when you get here.  We're a nomadic bunch..... we shoot wherever the shooting is to be had.  Indoors in the winter and outside all over the capital district in the summer.

Welcome to New York. Lots of deer up there.
My parents lived up there and my brother in law came from that site. Its a really nice area and Saratoga is the most happening place in the region.

Welcome! Like Keith said, we need more tax payers.  :)

If you don't mind me asking, what in the world would the Navy have your wife doing in Balston Spa?

Good luck in Ballston Spa.  My in-laws recently retired to AZ, but spent their entire lives in Ballston Spa.  I also had friends in the Navy the went to the Nuclear Prototype Training Unit in Ballston Spa.  Not far from the Adirondack and Catskill mountains.  Hope everything works out for you.

Best wishes on the move!  Moving, it's always an adventure. (SMILE)   I was born in Troy and grew up in Cohoes.  The Navy pulled me downward to Virgina (where I stayed). Family members still live in the surrounding areas.

While I hate to disappoint my soon to be fellow New Yorkers, I won't be paying there state taxes. We keep everything in my wife's name and since her home state is FL that is where all of our taxes go. The only thing they'll get from us is out of my pay check and whatever we buy up there.

As far as what my wife is doing up there, the Navy has a fully operational nuclear power plant in Ballston Spa that they use to train there newbies. (Makes you feel all warm and safe don't it). She'll be training those newbies.

Looks like I might have a new hunting partner...I'm about 5 minutes or so outside of the plant...
