Anybody here who can lighten limbs?
« on: January 31, 2009, 03:14:00 PM »
I have a T/D recurve that is 63# @ 28". Does anybody on here lighten limbs? I would like to get 10#'s off if possible. Can it be done? If so how expensive would it be for me to have it done?...Thanks Roy

Check out Jim Belcher, Belcher's BowHospital. It cost me @$125. Not sure how much weight.

Ted at Raptor told me he could do it, too. I don't know how much he can take off or what it would cost, though.

I would first call the bowyer that made it. If he's worth his salt.. He'll be able to do it.... and keep it under warrenty if you have one. Of course 10# sounds like alot of weight to take off?? Usually 3-4# is normal....

Why not try tosell/trade it for a similar bow in your desired weight. maybe the bowyer you got it rom can do something for you or try the classifieds here.

10% on a longbow ain't much.  10% on a recurve is a piece of work.  Specially when its that heavy. Means you gotta lose about 6.5 lbs.  Thats a bunch but it can be done.  Talk to the maker or trade.
Now then, get your weapons ~ your quiver and bow ~ and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27.3

Thanks guys,I have it up for trade here and on AT, but not having any luck so far. I was curious if it could be dropped in weight or not. I dont have a warranty or anything else on the bow. I was looking ahead incase I cant find a trade for a lighter bow.
