My wife just started shooting a recurve bless her little heart. I'ts 35# @ 24 inches, and I,m not sure what to get her for arrows at such a short draw , and low poundage? Could ya's give me a place to start, wood, carbon or aluminum ?

Topic: ARROWS FOR WIFE
Man my first thought was THE DAY BEFORE VALENTINE'S YOUR TRADEING YOUR WIFE FOR ARROWS.
I would try some 1716's in alum, if you can find some.

I would start with aluminum just because they are easier to get diffrent spines for and the ease of changing point weights . I bet a 1916 cut to 29 in. with a 145 grain point will get you very close .

I am happy she is willing to try
its great to have things to do together. Makes life :D
And not to take away from that, post another thread. Who is around Harrisville NY to shoot with.
I feel as though I should say how not to word it but will refrain
Best wishes for her to like it!

Aluminum will be simpler and easier. If however you start bending too many, Beeman ICS and Easton Redline carbons can be found all the way to 1000 deflection. They are very small dia.and require a half out insert for screw in points and their own small dia screw in points.
My wife shoots Beeman ICS 780's and she has banged them sideways of trees several times with no harm.

I had my girlfriend shooting those easton Jazz arrows but she loves the 3D shoots, but she doesnt hit too many! She bent those things in half, and then got really upset about it. The guy that just made this bow for her made her up some woodies made of fir, but I'm not sure of the spine. They are cut to about 29" and they fly real nice, but she hasn't broken one yet. They are holding up much better than the aluminums.
P.S. Her bow is also 35# @ 24"

My wife shoots a custom made Iron Mountain long bow, 35# @ 23". She shoots 1716 easton platinums cut to 27 and 1/2", Nock to end of shaft, with 100grn points. Total arrow wieght is 378g. she has also shot cedars 5/16ths 35-40# cut to 27" with 100g points.
The aluminums are eaiser to keep a consistent weight and spine imho. The platinums seem to be tougher than the jazz. Never tried carbons I'm sure there are some out there that would work for her. hope this helps.
