Home brew ladder stand extensions
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:34:00 PM »
I have several of the inexpensive 15 foot at the seat ladder stands. They are the type when you stand you are away from the tree not leaning against it.

Is there a practical way to make them a foot or two higher w/o breaking the bank? Or should I just leave them alone? It seems a foot or two more would make a big diff but maybe not.

Anyone have any luck with these type and size stands. Although I have shot a few deer it has always been out of a portable or climber. This is in Missouri.

Thanks

To be honest, I don't think a foot or two would be worth the hassle and safety considerations unless they were solidly welded on as opposed to another slip on section.

I have a bunch of the stand you are talking about.  Almost never use it as a 15 ft.  Mostly 10 ft and sometimes 6 ft.  It all depends on the cover in the tree I want to use.  I do want to take one of the extra sections and cut it down so I have a 2 ft adjustment section when needed.

Buy one more complete ladder just like them and use the 3 sections to put another 5 foot on your originals. Have done this on all mine and it works fine. 20 footers are perfect.
