Ive owned several Assenheimers over the years. In my quest to shoot other bows I have sold or traded every one of them. Big mistake on my part.

I got one from a fellow trad ganger for my moose hunt this fall. It is the quietest recurve I have ever shot and I love the grip. The arrow sits almost right on my hand. It's 62" and 60" @ 28 but you would never know it because it's so smooth. You can't go wrong with one !

I once had a 66", 55# @ 28". I draw recurves 31-1/2"-32". It was a nice bow. Well built, reasonable performance.

I have been shooting Don's bows since 1985. The original bow that I bought was 66 inch 68lb limbs. Since age has taken its toll (on me) I'm shooting 55lb on the original handle. I have sold over 10 bows for Don, just letting other people shoot mine. You can't go wrong with an Assenheimer.

Not at all. I think Widows have a heavy riser (not a slam against Widows, I only own 5 of em). Don's risers have gotten slimmer over the years. One of the first bows that Don made for me, back in 1997 I think, had a fairly blocky riser. Not heavy, but kind of chunky feeling in the hand. The risers he's making today are slim and trim and weight wise, I'd say they're in the middle of the pack for a TD recurve.

Thanks Otto,
I actually want a little weight for stability, I have a Toelke Td with Bubunga Riser that might actually be a little to light for me. Is cocobola and bocote a heavier weight than Bubinga?

Of the 3 woods you listed, Bocote is the lightest with a specific gravity of .64, followed by Bubinga with an SG of .88, and Cocobola is the heaviest with an SG of 1.10.
Hope that helps. FWIW, I've seen an Assenheimer made from Coco and my brother has one made from Bocate. Both are drop dead gorgeous. The center section of mine on the first page of this thread is coco.
