I dont know about that low but I know you can do one for 1,000-1,200 in a lot of places just north of the border.  Most places like this they have baiting sites the guide keeps up but you bring your own stand and set it up and you also bring your own food to eat for the week.

Try this website, $990.00 per person for minimum four hunters for bull moose. About $1900.00 for black bear

I don't know about Ontario, but Ron Henry in Quebec has a nice hunt for a low price like that.  I don't know all the details but get with Greg Darling here and he can give you specifics.

I bear hunt myself in Alberta, and know from experience that 500.00 wouldn't even cover the cost of GAS getting to the bait station to bait for a month.  That is not counting the bait material.  Once I bear hunted for the first time by myself I realized the guys charging a few thousand aren't really making much money if they are baiting well.  Just my honest opinion.  If you hunt close to the "outfitters house" and close to roads it may be possible, but I don't know.  Remember this though.  You usually get what you pay for.  If you go the cheap route, make sure you STILL GET REFERENCES!!!!!  Go into it with realistic expectations.  I hope to start playing with the furry critters in a couple of months.  YEEEHAWW!!!!!  I love bears.

Here is a video of some cubs being cubs on my bait 2 years ago.  Turn your sound up when you watch it.

In Ontario you need an outfitter to do either of those hunts. How do you plan on hunting cow moose with trad archery equip?? You can't call cows?? In over 20 yrs of moose hunting I've never seen a cow respond to a call. The odds of four guys wandering with trad gear and one finding a cow and arrowing it are pretty close to nil in my opinion. Your better off going fishing. I'm sure someone in Quebec will take your money and tell you it's possible. I'd stick to bear hunting if you can find anyone that offers $500.00 hunts, $1,000.00 is cheapest I know of for Non Residents as you need an outfitter. Good luck.

My thoughts exactly David!!!  BTW-I personally think a $1000.00 Bear hunt with a reputable guide is a heck of a deal!!  YMMV

$500 for a black bear hunt?  If you live in, maybe Moose Pass, Alaska there is such a thing...wel, actually it would be alot less than that.....

I'll second Ron Henry. I went up in the fall despite Ron saying the spring is much better. I had bears within 5 yards all but 2 nights. I also saw 3 wolves. You do most of the work yourself but the trip was only 700.00 plus your liscense

I know a guy in northern MN that gets $500 to put you on his baits, fall hunts in Sept. You camp at a park in Big Falls, MN and hunt one of the two areas that border the town - I think #26 & 27. You apply for a non res tag by the first Friday in May. Cost of the tag is on top of the guide fee. If you want more info, PM me.

When you say $500-600 if thats total hunt cost i think its a thing of the past, with travel $$$. Most guides  across the border get a min of $500-600 bait fee on a a do it ur self hunt. Which means u pay $600 for bait fee per person  maybe license included may be not, a map of baits which you have to tend ur self every day(bait supplied by outfitter) that were started 3-4 weeks prior ur arrival. Then you camp an track an pick stands, set stands on ur own, plus travel fees an food...Lots of HARD work no time to fish but well worth it in my book!!!! i think the last one i went on from home an back was around $900-1000 that was 5-6 years ago an i`m missing it badly!! Just for the record Ron Henry is the guy that would start are baits for us we would book 2 weeks an every year we would take 7-9 bears an 1 record book bear for 10-11 hunters we were in a remote ares on public ground that`s why we had too book 2 weeks to make it worth his $$$$
