Hawiian pork
« on: March 02, 2009, 02:04:00 AM »
After a stalk of 3000 miles I finally got within 8 yards of my first piggie. A Wensel Woodsman on the front of a 2018 out of a 55# Dalla made a pass thru and she only went about 50 yards. My wife and I ate the backstaps for several breakfasts and a supper, (in HI) and ,YUM YUM YUM!!!
We just got home yesterday and had friends over to help eat one of the hind quarters this evening along with some sheep and other pork (char su) we were given by out fantastic friends in HI. What a great meal!!!!!
Sonja and I met these wonderful tradgangers last year on da big island and they have turned out to be what trad gang is all about. These new friends have taken us in and are so generous it almost hurts. I (we) feel extremly lucky to have met this group of great guys and don't know if we can ever thank them enough for letting us be part of their gang. We are already planning our next trip.  :scared:

Oh, btw, I was told I should have been smiling. I WAS, it just doesn't show  ;)

I think the major merit of this forum is to promote friendship and cameraderie between the member.  Way to go Tom

Very envious of all the hog harvests. I went to Texas years ago and we all killed some hogs and placed them on Mesquite coals to cook all day and man o man that was some tasty meat. Oh yeah and making new friends is ok to.

There was a Kauai' pig roast cooking on the OTHER side of the Kenai Peninsula last night!

We did ours with mangos, sweet potatoes, and fried bananas!

Howzit Brahdah Tom,

It was great having you and your lovely wife join us here on da Big Island. You will always be welcome with "da gang". You an Sonja now family. I tell everyone dat we get relatives in Alaska!

I noticed dat you left out a few highlights of your trip. Like da time we were stalking some sheep and all of a sudden "someone's" cell phone starts ringing. Kinda catchy tune if I rememba--- (lol). Or da time you were "stalking" dat pig an you were ready to shoot and I said "go mo close". You took a few steps forward and I said "go mo close". Finally at 8 yards I said okay shoot um. I wanted to make sure that if the pigs decided to rush us, they knew who shot the arrow. Being behind you also gave me a head start. ---(lol).

Well brahdah, you're on your way of shooting da Big Island's Grand Slam. All we got left is a Muflon sheep, Feral Sheep, Feral Goat and Turkey. At least five mo trips eh?

I already told da gang that you got home safely and that you posted. Us "innocent" guys look forward to your next trip. I'll also put in a good word to Uncle Richard's parole officer and if he is good, she may let him join us on our next adventure.

Aloha,

       Mark

Aloha Nui Loa to all the Hawaiian tradgangers.
